Laundry Love
Ann Capps announced in church that everything Immanuel needs to provide for 2026 has been collected. Thank you very much for your generous donations!
Community Outreach
- We have an opportunity to help those less fortunate by working with First Christian Church. We will help with distributing household items to people who are at First Christian for a meal. They generally buy things in bulk so monetary gifts are helpful. If you want to give cash you can put it in one of your unused envelopes and write on it that it's for "Care Cupboard." You can also donate tangible goods like soap, toothpaste, bathroom tissue, paper towels and other goods. There will be a tub in the Narthex for donations.
- Delores has yarn for making hats. It's very easy so if you would like to help make hats for the homeless just get in touch with Delores.
Mom's Club Update
Mom's Club meets Tuesday, December 17 at 10:00.
Emails From Pastor Larry
You should be receiving a few emails every week from Pastor Larry. If you aren't and would like to, just let him know and he'll add you to the list. If you don't want to get the emails, tell him and he will take you off the list.
Cookies Needed
If you want cookies after church, the larder is empty. If you feel inclined to buy some and bring them in that would help greatly. You can put them in the refrigerator or freezer downstairs. Thank you.
Meals on Wheels
We recently received this message:
Hello Albany Community Partners,
Meals on Wheels has recently had 5 of our volunteer drivers retire. We are looking for 5 people who would be interested in delivering free meals to seniors. This volunteer shift is one day per week and usually 3 hours long and completed from 10am to 1pm.
Would you please consider letting the community know in ways that make sense for your organization, this might be to list it in your bulletin, add it to your social media, mention it at meetings or send to your community email list. We would appreciate as many shares as possible.
To apply, volunteers should contact.

Opportunities to Serve Abound
- We need people to serve as readers and greeters.
- Also, Jeanne and Ann are really doing the heavy lifting when it comes to prep for fellowship hour. People who do help are very much appreciated but if you have time and are so inclined, please feel free to contribute. They would greatly appreciate it.

Donations for the Homeless
If you bring items for the homeless, please leave them in the anteroom to the left as you come in the front door of the church. Also, any help with the homeless mission would be appreciated.
Bulletins to be Minimized to Save Paper and Ink
We spend a lot of money on paper and ink and most of it goes right in the recycle bin after church. Most people follow the order of worship off the screens. For the month of September Linda is going to print minimal bulletins with just the outline of the order of worship hopefully reducing the paper use down to a single sheet. We will see how well it works and go from there.
New Pastor Dylan Weber Serving in Washington
Immanuel has sponsored some seminarians in the past and one has just accepted a call in Washington. He is working with students at University of Washington so if you know of someone who will be attending UW you can give Larry their information and he can pass it on to Dylan.
Weekly Funny:
Past jokes can be found here: https://www.immanuelalbany.org/funnies.html
A businessman needed a million dollars to close an important business transaction. He went to church to pray for the money.
He knelt and started praying next to a man who was praying for a hundred dollars he needed to pay an urgent debt. The businessman took out his wallet and pressed the hundred dollars into the other man's hand.
Overjoyed, the man got up and left the church.
The businessman then closed his eyes and prayed, "And now, Lord, that I have your undivided attention...."

Ann and Jeanne are Taking a Break
Ann Oliver and Jeanne Butler have decided to take a break from feeding us what is essentially a lunch after church. They want to thank everyone who has been helping.
Going forward there will still be coffee and cookies and if anyone wants to bring in more treats now and then Ann and Jeanne are happy to help.
Thank you, ladies, for serving us!!

Using Cans to Help Others
Immanuel gets frequent requests from members of the community that are in need. Too often cash is not appropriate as it will only end up feeding their issues with substance abuse. What is often given are gift coupons to McDonalds or other places to eat at least providing a warm meal without handing over money.
To help fund this Immanuel is going to place a barrel in the building to collect depositable cans and bottles. Someone from the church will cash them in and the funds will be used to buy meal coupons.
Contact Linda Anderson if you have questions. (Don't forget...there's a deposit on water bottles too!)

Use smile.amazon.com to Help Immanuel
Just like the Fred Meyer Community Rewards system below, Amazon has started something called Amazon Smile.
You can go to http://smile.amazon.com and select a charity. One half of a percent of your purchase (0.5%) will go to the charity you choose. The first time you go to smile.amazon.com you can search for the charity. That's the hard part since there are hundreds of Immanuel Lutheran Churches on the list. You have to find the one in Albany, Oregon and unfortunately, they aren't listed alphabetically by city and state. When I went through the process I think our church was on page 8 or 9 of 19.
Once you find our church you can just select it and you'll be taken to a page where you have to acknowledge that you understand that you have to go to smile.amazon.com every time you want to use the feature. Once you've said you understand that you are good to go.

Fred Meyer Community Rewards
Thanks to Jeanne Butler for announcing this great free benefit for Immanuel!
"Shopping at Fred Meyer can pay off in more ways than gas rewards. Fred Meyer has a charitable program whereby each of us can select Immanuel Lutheran Church, Albany, Oregon as the charity of our choice and they will direct money to the church based on the amount of our spending. There is no cost to the individual. In fact, if you have a rewards card, they will continue to send you your dividend coupon quarterly based on your spending."
"All it takes is a few minutes online, or in the store, to fill out your information and select the church from their list of charities. Currently we apparently have 3 families that have signed up. The money designated for the church so far is around $20. When that amount reaches $25, Fred Meyer will send a check in that amount to the church." - Jeanne Butler

Here's how to set it up online assuming you already have a Fred Meyer rewards card:
- Go to http://fredmeyer.com/communityrewards to read about the details.
- From there you can create an account or just go to http://fredmeyer.com/account/create to set up an account
- Once you have created an account you can link your Fred Meyer rewards card by going to http://fredmeyer.com/account/communityrewards/enroll (you can also find this link from the fredmeyer.com/communityrewards page)
- Sign in and you will be asked to find your organization. Just enter Immanuel in the field and click the search button and our church should be about 3rd in the list. Alternately the organization number for our church is 90653 so you can just enter that and only our church will show in the results. Select it, click enroll and you are done!
